Middlewich FAB Festival will enjoy a taste of India this year with performances from the very exciting and exhilarating ‘Circus Raj’ on Saturday at the main festival site Market Field. ‘Circus Raj’ is one of many new FREE attractions announced for this three day event and is sure to spice up Saturday’s afternoon.
‘Circus Raj’ will reenact magical performances formally enjoyed by the Maharajas of India to create an aura of excitement during the Saturday daytime. Dancers, illusionists, aerialists, and much more greet FAB Festival “namaste”, with elaborate stories acted out to live music. Dancers will perform an amazing ‘Kalbelia’ dance inspired by the dangerous cobra snakes charmers, which the dancers would handle in their home communities. Audiences will also enjoy the fabulous juggling skills of the Fakirs, the village wandering performers. This is the first year that FAB Festival will feature such a thrilling circus, which is sure to be a magnificent treat for children and adults alike adding a lot of colour and cultural diversity to the festival.
FAB Festival also welcomes back the ‘Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band’, which festival goers enjoyed last year. The musical styles of the brass band has been a favourite with the audiences in the past and Middlewich FAB Festival is thrilled to welcome them back this summer. The local street instruments such as the beautiful flute, mangiras, and dholak from the brass band, combined with the courageous Indian circus and street theatre, honours the traditional circus community of The Nats. The brass band will entertain FAB Festival goers and the thrilling circus performers are sure to be a sensational attraction at this summer’s FAB Festival Market Field.
Mayor of Middlewich, Cllr Pam Farrell comments, “Middlewich Town Council has been reaching out to more artists to join the celebrations of Middlewich FAB Festival. I am delighted to welcome back the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band after their success last year and have Circus Raj join us on Saturday at Market Field.” Concluding, “Festival goers are in for a truly fabulous treat this summer with the many international cultures being represented and I am excited to be part of this experience at FAB Festival.”
In addition, to this unique FREE circus, FAB Festival will also host numerous FREE concerts across the many fringe venues as well as Saturday’s FREE concert with the headliners ‘The Sundowners’ and Sunday evening’s FREE concert with ‘Molotov Jukebox’.
